"Better Than A Hallelujah"

As most of you know, Joseph has been out of town for the past 5 weeks straight. He comes home on Friday, but has to work in the office on Saturday, leaving our only full day with him on Sunday. Well, we are almost done. I wish I could say I gracefully breezed through these weeks with ease of being mommy and daddy all day and all night, but I didn't. As I was driving home from dropping Winston off at school, a song began to play, and it has instantly become one of my favorites. Of course, Amy Grant singing makes it even better. Naturally, my eyes filled with tears as I felt like God told the songwriter to write the first line of song just for me (especially since Sam has been teething and suffered his first ear infection). The chorus is such beautiful truth. I was also immediately reminded of a dear friend who is dealing with infertility, and how our Father is listening to her sweet "melodies". Even if you aren't in a hard spot right now, the chorus is a truth we can rejoice in in anticipation of those hard times that will come. Well, here are the lyrics and a link of Amy Grant performing.

Amy Grant Performance

God loves a lullaby
In a mothers tears in the dead of night
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes.
God loves the drunkards cry,
The soldiers plea not to let him die
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes.

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah.

The woman holding on for life,
The dying man giving up the fight
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes
The tears of shame for what's been done,
The silence when the words won't come
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes.

Better than a church bell ringing,
Better than a choir singing out, singing out
